You have an idea for a story, but not sure where to start. Perhaps you’ve started writing your story and have a few pages written, or even a few chapters, and are lost. You don’t know where it’s going.

You could use help, support, and feedback on your project, and to keep you moving forward.

As a book doula coach, that’s where I can help you. I’ve written several fantasy novels and know what it takes to get a fiction book written and to publish it. I work with women writing most type of genre fiction.

The genres I don’t work with are:

  • Christian fiction of any kind
  • Horror
  • Literary fiction
  • Historical fiction
  • Men’s fiction

Themes I won’t work with:

  • Promoting Misogyny, Bigotry, Racism, or Hate
  • Glorified violence—violence for violence’s sake (I’m all for magical battles and fighting, but it must serve a purpose)

I’ve written several fiction books and know what it takes to take a fiction book from idea to published book. We’ll work together to move through whatever stage you are on in writing your book.

Inception Stage

If you are just starting your project, there are so many things to consider before you even start writing. At this stage, we work on:

  • World building
  • Developing your idea
  • Plotting, if you are a plotter
  • Story arc, even if you are a pantser, this can help (I’m mostly a pantser)
  • Character development
  • Who you are writing for, your ideal reader
  • What research you need to do (even as a fantasy author, I research things!)

By the end of this stage, you’ll have either an outline or a story arc idea for your novel. You have an idea of where to start and what type of story you’re writing.

Gestation (Writing) Stage

During this stage, we’re working on you putting words on the page. For some, this will be going in order of your initial outline. Others will want to write the sections or parts that they’re currently drawn to. Either way, or something totally different, is okay! There is NO ONE WAY to write YOUR book!! Together, we’ll discover the process that works for you, based on your personality strengths and your Human Design.

At this stage, we work on such things as:

  • Writing your book or experiential story
  • Giving you accountability to keep writing
  • Working through any writing blocks
  • Helping you get unstuck and figuring out where you’re going next in your book or story
  • Receiving feedback on your manuscript about what is working and what needs work
  • Determining what type of editor you need, or if it’s ready for beta readers (first readers)
  • Working through and making any editor or beta reader changes suggested that’s right for your book.

At the end of this stage, you’ll have a finalized manuscript that is ready to be birthed—published!

Birth (Publishing) Stage

This can be the most exciting stage! This is when we format our manuscript and ready it for publication. Then we send our book baby out into the world.

There are many steps and decisions in the self-publishing, or as I prefer to call it, Indie publishing process. I’ll walk you through each step and guide you in making the right decisions for you, your book, and your business.

In this stage, we’ll work on

  • Formatting your book as an ebook and for print
  • Determining if you want an audiobook, and how to produce one
  • Deciding if Kindle Select or going Wide is right for you
  • Setting up and uploading your manuscript to your chosen platforms
  • Determining what you need to sell your book direct, if you choose

By the end of this stage, you will have successfully published your book on your chosen platforms! You’ve birthed your book baby. You’re ready to promote and market it in the way that’s right for you.

In addition, because of my business background, we’ll talk about and work on your business plan and developing your author business.

As an author, you’ve created a business!

I’ll guide you through this process as part of the Book Doula Coaching program to help give you the best chance of succeeding.

If you are already in business, we’ll discuss how to integrate your book business with your current business plan if you have one. If you don’t have a business plan, we’ll work on creating one that incorporates all aspects of your business.

If you don’t already have a business, we’ll discuss what you need to set up a publishing company.

Once you start working with me, the amount will never change once you begin, even if my prices increase, or you change which stage you are working on.

I’m so excited to be doing this work with you, supporting and encouraging you to write and publish your stories and books!

You have such amazing wisdom, experiences, and stories to share with the world. I’ve found so much empowerment by independently publishing my books, and I want this for you as well.
